David West declared the time is now for the Pacers to ramp up their mental toughness and with a back-to-back game on the road in Charlotte tonight, delivering the type of effort and focus West is demanding will be key.
As bad as the Pacers feel about their loss to Golden State on Tuesday night, they certainly won't get any sympathy from the Bobcats. Charlotte spent last night licking their wounds at home after a vicious three-game road trip that saw them drop tough games at San Antonio, Oklahoma City and Miami. Their prize for getting buried by that gauntlet is to return home to play the Pacers.
Charlotte had won 8 of 11 games before heading to San Antonio and appeared to be gathering momentum to move up to the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff teams. But now they remain in the seven spot which means we have a potential playoff preview on our hands. Al Jefferson is averaging over 20 and 10 and has been rolling in the middle for Charlotte which will force Roy Hibbert to tap into DWest's preferred level of mental toughness to even things out.
