Pacers Links: Pacers core players welcome new faces to the floor

New, comments

The Pacers expect to put their new playing rotation with Evan Turner in the mix to the test tonight when they host the Lakers at the Fieldhouse.

Larry Bird's latest change to the Pacers' roster will be on display Tuesday night when Evan Turner comes off the bench against the Los Angeles Lakers.

For all of the talk of team chemistry and togetherness, Scott Agness raises a good point in his blog that the Pacers have seen plenty of change throughout the Frank Vogel era. As the team transitioned to its current state, Bird often spoke about finding some talented core players to build around and that's what he's done.

Since Vogel took over the team, only Paul George, Roy Hibbert and Lance Stephenson remain on the roster.

"I still got the picture in my office. This is a league of change. We knew last year and this year, this is kind of a start-our-own team and we wanted to build up the pieces around those guys."

After the trade last week, only six players remain from the Eastern Conference finalists last year. Of course, that group includes the starting five along with Ian Mahinmi. So, yes the core is strong and all of that chemistry, togetherness and sacrifice comes from those guys setting the tone.

Now more than ever.
