The Pacers are 8-6 on the second game of B2B's but all six of those losses came on the road where they are 5-6 in the perilous situation. The Pacers should be in pretty good shape despite facing a rested and ready Timberwolves team who enjoyed the extra day off yesterday.
This game will wrap up the season series between the two teams. Minnesota was one of the victims during the Pacers 16-1 stretch to begin the season. The Pacers outscored the Wolves 50-38 in the second half of that game to put away the home win without much drama. The Georges took care of business the first time around, combining for 52 points (26 each) on just 29 shots while making a combined 7 of 8 three-point shots.
Minnesota enjoyed 18 points from Kevin Martin and an 18-11 double-double from center Nikola Pekovic in that loss but neither starter will be available for the Wolves in the game tonight. Pekovic continues dealing with bursitis in his ankle while Martin remains out with a fractured thumb and is hoping to get cleared to play when he visits the doctor on Friday.
So while the Pacers have B2B issues, Minnesota is certainly playing the game short-handed. Plus, as we saw from some of the early action last night with Atlanta, that extended break can cause some sloppy play, so the Wolves will also have to find their game rhythm in a hurry.
