Pacers Links: Slick Leonard is a hall of famer, will the Naismith Hall of Fame finally figure it out?

New, comments

The Pacers certainly deserve to have a fourth hall of famer announced today when the ABA inductee for the 2014 class of the Naismith Hall of Fame is announced.

NBA All-Star weekend tips off on Friday from New Orleans and among the first items of interest will be the Naismith Hall of Fame's announcement of the finalists for 2014 HoF class and more importantly, the direct electees from various categories including the ABA.

The single ABA Hall of Fame slot has been used to include Mel Daniels and Roger Brown, but this time their coach, Slick Leonard is due for the nod.

We will officially find out at 3:30 p.m. if the people making these HoF decisions have a clue and can actually give Slick his just due. Still don't know why Slick has never been considered as a contributor to the game, especially considering the list of inductees in the Hall under that category, but it would be fitting to keep Slick under the ABA banner.

As I always say, Slick IS a hall of famer, it's just a matter of the people at the Naismith hall figuring it out.

Among the other activities in New Orleans will be the Rising Stars game with NBA rookies and sophomores. Pacers lead assistant Nate McMillan will be coaching one of the teams for the game which will air on TNT at 9 pm.
