The Indiana Pacers fell behind early and would spend the entire night trying to make up the difference. Every time the Portland Trail Blazers would push the lead towards double figures, the Pacers were right there to bring the game back to within a single possession. After tying the game 66-66, the Blazers pushed forward on an 11-0 run. With time running out, the Pacers would close the lead to three, but failed to capitalize on their opportunities, falling late 88-82.

Rodney Stuckey led the Pacers with 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists as Indiana's starting point guard, but did commit four turnovers. Solomon Hill had 15 points and eight rebounds (four offensive), David West had 13, and Luis Scola had 10. Indiana had 17 turnovers on the night, leading to 24 Portland points all while getting blitzed again in points off turnovers 19-6. Indiana was outshot at the free throw line 23-8 in an ugly game where both teams shot under 40%.
