Pacers vs. Cavaliers: Game thread, lineups, TV info and more

New, comments

The Pacers try to build on the positive debut of David West and C.J. Watson with a stiff road challenge against the Cavs.

Marc Lebryk-USA TODAY Sports

The Pacers return to the road for the first of four consecutive as the stop in Cleveland to play Lebron James and the Cavaliers before heading out to play three Western Conference teams.

This wasn't how the first matchups between the two teams was supposed to shape up when LeBron made his decision to go home in mid-July. The Pacers figured to be battling the Cavs at the top of the East, but injuries have derailed those plans while the Cavs are just at .500 trailing six other teams in the East.

Anderson Varejao is questionable for the Cavs with a rib injury while Roy Hibbert's status is more hopeful for his return from an ankle injury. While the Cavs appear to have a distinct advantage on paper with a strong starting unit, the Pacers have much better depth that was bolstered on Friday with the return of David West and C.J. Watsion. If Hibbert joins, then the Pacers need to use that depth to force a 48-minute slugfest with the Cavs.
