Pacers Injury Update: C.J. Watson to miss preseason opener

The Pacers start preseason play on Tuesday but will play Minnesota without reserve point guard C.J. Watson.

Frank Vogel is comfortable with his point guard rotation for the regular season as the Pacers head into preseason play on Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Reserve point guard C.J. Watson expects to play a big role off the bench this season but on Tuesday he will watch while resting a sore foot, according to 1070 The Fan's Conrad Brunner.

Initial reports express little concern that Watson's foot soreness will threaten his availability for the start of the season. Unfortunately we will have to wait to see how the revamped reserve unit will look heading into the year.

Reserve center Ian Mahinmi is questionable with a shoulder which should at least give extra time for Lavoy Allen and rookie Shayne Whittington. As Bruno also mentions, Whittington's availability in training camp has been a pleasant surprise since he broke his leg back in May.
