Frank Vogel hoped to work his regular season playing rotation into shape over the final two preseason games, but instead the Pacers coach has been forced to throw odd collections of bodies on the court to get through the games.
For their final practice game in Charlotte on Thursday, Vogel won't have key rotation players available once again. George Hill hurt his knee in Minnesota on Tuesday and the continued swelling and pain has him out indefinitely. Hill told Candace Buckner, he hopes to be ready for the opener next week but at this point doesn't know when he'll be ready to return.
Along with Hill, David West (ankle), C.J. Watson (foot) and Rodney Stuckey (foot) will sit out the game in Charlotte.
The Hornets will be without their newest face as former Pacer Lance Stephenson (right groin strain) will miss his fourth preseason game, so the emotional reuniting of Lance with his former team on the court will have to wait for another day. Gerald Henderson is also out for Charlotte and Kemba Walker is questionable.
So as the Pacers wrap up preseason, it's Donald Sloan's world and we're all just living in it.
