Late in the third quarter of a preseason game against the Dallas Mavericks David West went down with an apparent ankle injury. He was helped to the bench by his teammates and seemed as if he was in serious pain. After a few seconds on the bench he was helped to the locker room.
David West has a sprained ankle and will not return to tonight's game.— Indiana Pacers (@Pacers) October 19, 2014
The Indiana Pacers Public Relations team announced that West suffered a sprained ankle. West had been having a very good game up to that point, scoring 16 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in 24 minutes. Obviously if West misses any extended time this is a huge loss for the Pacers. West is the leader of the team, and the most reliable scorer on the roster. Hopefully West recovers in time for the season opener October 29th against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Vogel said West's sprained ankle will continue to be monitored. “We really have no idea, and we’ll re-evaluate over the next couple days.”— Indiana Pacers (@Pacers) October 19, 2014
