Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger didn't disappoint in the first practice of the season on Saturday. As Scott Agness rerported, Granger was not only a full participant in practice but lit it up while playing with the second unit, knocking down a pair of threes as the reserves beat the starters 15-4 during the scrimmage portion of practice.

While Granger minimized expectations during Media Day on Friday, he sounded more positive after surviving his first practice.

"For me, it went honestly better than I expected," the All-Star forward said. "I felt great.

"I went through the whole practice. I did all the sprints. I played the whole time. I didn't have to sit out or anything so I definitely can feel (my conditioning) coming back."

Frank Vogel saw a familiar player on the floor in Granger but nothing resembling what he saw last year at this time.

"I didn't see any limitations at all," he said. "He just looked like Danny Granger. Not like last year's Danny Granger where he was struggling to push off on certain plays. He looked like two years ago Danny Granger."

Vogel also downplayed the fact that Granger was starting out with the second unit, emphasizing that this is just part of Granger's comeback, working in full-court scrimmage. Although, if the second unit keeps running so well with Granger why mess with success.

Plenty of time to let those playing roles shake out over camp and preseason games. But for now. all systems are go for considering Granger a key player to begin the season. The Pacers practiced again Saturday evening but without any media access after practice. They will return to the court for Day 2 on Sunday.
