The Knox Indy Pro Am is ready to tip off their 2013 season on Thursday night with a bit of a twist this year. There will be four teams comprised of local pros which will vary from week to week, with two games played between those four teams and then a showcase game.
Among the Indiana Pacers expected to play at some time during the six-week schedule, are Lance Stephenson, George Hill and Orlando Johnson. Gerald Green and Miles Plumlee are also among the players listed but that has likely changed since they were dealt to Phoenix. Other NBA players include Gordon Hayward, Jeff and Marquis Teague, Shelvin Mack and Mario Chalmers. Again, all of those NBA guys won't be there for every week, but they are expected to play at some point.
In a twist this year, the league is putting together the showcase games to wrap up the night's action with players from other cities playing a group from Indy. The showcase game this Thursday will be a local battle with players from Indiana and Purdue playing each other for a little school pride.
The games begin at 6 p.m with the Purdue/IU clash starting at 8 p.m. at Cardinal Ritter High School. Here is info on the schedule, teams and tickets.
Among the links today, is a brief Q & A with Lance Stephenson who has been working out with the Knox group and will play when he is in town. Also, Area 55 auditions are ramping up with a chance to earn a season ticket in Roy Hibbert's fan section.
