After a mild courtship with other teams, Larry Bird has decided to return to the Indiana Pacers as their President of Basketball Operations according to Bob Kravitz. Bird took a year away for health reasons after winning the award for Executive of the Year in 2011-12 after Indiana improved their win count by five in a strike shortened season.

Bird will begin operations on Monday, just in time for free agency to kick off on July 1. According to the Indianapolis Star, Bird will not be a part of this Thursday's draft. Donnie Walsh will remain with the team as a consultant as Kevin Pritchard will remain the team's general manager. There will be a press conference for 10 a.m. on Thursday morning to officially welcome back Bird.
