Pacers Complete First Group Workout, Second One Tomorrow

Indiana finished up their workout filled with second round prospects today, but two big names come in tomorrow that could be top candidates to be selected at 23.

Today's first group workout finished up at Bankers Life Fieldhouse with little first round talent involved. One of the six prospects invited, C.J. Leslie of North Carolina State, could not even play due to him still nursing his sprained hand. This should not affect his stock, as he is rising up boards with his game tape and interviews.

I have heard that Indiana is very interested in Leslie and Syracuse forward, James Southerland, who was also in today to workout. Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski was told by two teams drafting in the mid-20's that they do not expect Leslie to be there come draft night. Pacers' Director of Scouting, Ryan Carr was at a ton of Leslie and Southerland's games this season if that makes it any more clearer there is interest.

The other four prospects were as follows: DeShaun Thomas (SF/PF, Ohio State), Alex Oriakhi (PF/C, Missouri), Will Clyburn (SG, Iowa State), and Troy Daniels (SG, VCU). Sounds like there was nothing noteworthy from the workout, because no local media tweeted any info about it. With that being said, sounds like Indy Cornrows will be your one-stop shop for all things Pacers' draft workouts.

Tomorrow, we have a big-boy workout with two potential picks at 23 coming into town. Tim Hardaway Jr, shooting guard out of Michigan and Tony Mitchell, power forward out of North Texas both are expected to be taken in the 20's come draft night. The other four prospects coming in tomorrow are expected to be taken in the late-second round to being undrafted. They are Andrew Smith (C, Butler), Chris Babb (SG, Iowa State), Solomon Hill (SF/PF, Arizona), and Axel Toupane (SG/SF, France).

As usual, Indiana's staff will be conducting the usual individual testing and three-on-three scrimmages throughout the workout tomorrow. Expect Hardaway Jr. and Mitchell to dominate tomorrow with going against much weaker competition than they usual do in other workouts. I know for a fact that Carr has seen Hardaway Jr, Mitchell, Babb, Hill, Smith, and Toupane all in person from seeing it on his twitter page so they must have impressed him while he was at their games.

The Pacers' front office brought in a good workout that will feature a scoring guard (Hardaway Jr.), a lockdown defender (Babb), two scoring hybrid forwards (Mitchell and Hill), one big man that is capable of doing the dirty work off the bench (Smith), and an unknown international player who would be be a draft-and-stash (Toupane). This diverse group will bring a great workout tomorrow. Check out Pacers.com for any updates on the workout for tomorrow, because it is a big one.
