It was far from pretty. Honestly, watching the bulk of the Pacers' offensive possessions was enough to drive me crazy.
But the results? A work of art.
What the Pacers lacked in offensive execution, they made up for with strength, toughness and a resilient spirit that absorbed every run the Heat muster. Yes, the Heat appeared on their way to blowing past the Pacers when LeBron James splashed a 3-ball to tie the game at 83. But the Pacers gathered themselves and pushed back even harder, winning the rebounding battle 16 to 4 down the stretch.
Roy Hibbert was a beast in the middle, making 8 of 10 shots around the rim. Lance Stephenson had far more good than bad and simply left LeBron perplexed following the game when he was asked about his battle with Stephenson. He still couldn't fathom he was battling Stephenson down the stretch AND his team didn't win.
Now that is beautiful.
So now the Pacers return to South Beach with plenty of confidence which they will need to battle a desperate Heat team. Hopefully, they can come up with better offense than just getting the ball to the rim and crashing the glass.
