The Indiana Pacers held a 21-14 lead as the first quarter began to wind down. Suddenly, the Atlanta Hawks floodgates opened, ending in a 22-3 run that would give Atlanta the lead, ballooning up to 19 in a big Hawks second quarter. Atlanta scored 35 in the second quarter, including seven three pointers, as a Roy Hibbert tip at the buzzer made it a merciful 17. The Pacers would finally make a stand defensively in the third quarter, holding Atlanta to 12 before the Hawks would stave off the Pacers with timely shots throughout the fourth quarter, tying the series 2-2.
Josh Smith played big tonight, scoring 29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, including 9-16 from the free throw line to lead the Hawks. Kyle Korver had 19 and Al Horford 18 to cap the win. For the Pacers, Paul George led the way with 21 and 12, grabbing four steals. All five Pacers starters reached double figures.
