On Tuesday, with lingering injuries and a challenging four-game set scheduled for the roadie, bringing home a 2-2 record sounded good. But since then the injury outlook has improved quite a bit and a strong win in Houston to tip off the trip makes the game tonight a great opportunity to keep pace in the East and seize some solid momentum heading into April.
Not that it will be entirely up to the Pacers. The Mavs are playing great ball of late and are also desperate to remain in the Western Conference playoff race. They're loaded with motivation to throw at the Pacers, including the chance to reach .500 for the season and shave their beards following the game.
The Pacers threw a ton of energy and a ton of Roy Hibbert at the Rockets to win on Wednesday but the team has struggled to consistently deliver those two components, especially on the road. So a win tonight would show some nice growth out of the Pacers as they start to get serious about closing out the regular season and attacking the playoffs.
David West is expected back in the lineup after missing the past six games with a lower back injury, so I assume if he's good to go he will start.
