Indiana Pacers forward Paul George can make the game look easy. His length and smooth movements can mask all of the effort and grind PG puts into his game.
But in the NBA All-Star game?
After bouncing a couple of shots early, George slipped into his comfort zone and ended up scoring 17 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals in just 20 minutes. His role off the bench extended to crunch time when Eric Spoelstra put PG back in the game, hoping to give the East a boost in their late comeback bid. When Coach Spo tapped him to go back in, PG's first reaction was, "Wait, what?"
George hit a pair of three-balls and then had a play run for him to get another desperate three which bounced. Regardless, PG put up the most productive NBA All-Star game for any Pacers player and at 22, he should have a chance to shatter that mark in the future.
With the New York Knicks coming to town on Wednesday, it will be back to reality quickly for George. But for one night, under the spotlight, George not only showed he deserved to play among the league's elite players, he also earned the respect of those players on the court. Here's a clip of how PG started contributing to the East squad.
