This ain't South Beach, LeBron.
With temperatures fighting to get in the 20's today in Indianapolis, the Miami Heat are back in town for a matchup between the top two teams in the East at the Fieldhouse. Hopefully they packed a parka.
Of course, it was much warmer the last time the Heat were in town when the Pacers took care of business in Game 6 of the ECF which included my favorite moment of the series, as LeBron reacted to not drawing a foul by nearly running to Shapiro's. The Fieldhouse was already rocking and that LBJ sprint took it to another level.
This time around both teams are appropriately downplaying the significance of the game, which makes sense considering no one will remember nor care about the result tonight, if and when the two teams meet again in the playoffs. These teams have already established their bona fides and will be heard from loud and clear in the playoffs.
Fortunately, both teams are loaded will big time talent, filled with a competitive spirit and pride that exposes itself on the court. A one-on-one game in the practice gym with no one watching? These guys fight like their life depends on it to win. So a regular-season game in front of a full and hostile Fieldhouse crowd? Yeah, they want to win.
For Paul George, he makes the vicious leap from Kevin Durant to LeBron James in his first tour as an elite wing player mentioned on their level. KD offered his form of hazing with 36 points in OKC. Surely, LeBron will be ready to do the same. That game within a game, should be fun to watch, as well.
So what are you looking forward to seeing out of this game for the Pacers? I wonder if LeBron packed his running shoes.
