The Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat won't earn the top seed in the Eastern Conference or a fast-track to the NBA Finals with a win tonight. Nor will they freak out and lose much sleep over a loss.

OK, it's December, we've established the proper context for this game...BUT...

This is why we love the NBA and love following a team that is in it to win it all. Call it a manhood game if you want. The Heat at the Fieldhouse is prime time entertainment no matter how you slice it. No way the Frank Vogel we all know and love will not implore his team to be on point and ready to attack the Heat at the rim. No way Paul George is going to defer and let LeBron have his way in his house. No way David West isn't going to demand Shane Battier put on some lbs. No way Roy Hibbert isn't going to put the V in verticality around the rim.

The great benefit from an 18-3 start and high-level of play displayed at key points throughout that stretch is that the Pacers can just show up at the Fieldhouse tonight and let 'er rip against the Heat with pride as the most valuable asset on the line.
