The Pacers bookend a busy professional sports afternoon for fans in Indy, tipping off their road trip at the Los Angeles Clippers at 3:30pm ET which will be during the fourth quarter of the Colts vs. Titans game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
A couple of W's before dinner time would be a nice way to finish a holiday weekend and will surely make those leftovers taste even more fantastic than usual. The Pacers find the Clippers limping a bit with J.J. Redick sidelined with a wrist injury and Chris Paul trying to play through a bad hammy.
While this road trip serves as a great test for the Pacers, it certainly won't define the season. We know the Pacers are an elite team in the East and will be involved in the playoffs. Just as the 15-1 start is fantastic but won't mean much in May, let alone June, whatever happens during this trip in December will be quite interesting and highly entertaining, but again, won't make or break the season, as Frank Vogel said before hitting the road.
"It will be somewhat revealing, but not all-revealing," Vogel said. "If we go 0-5 it doesn't mean we're a disaster, if we go 5-0 it doesn't mean we won the championship. It's an early-season barometer.
"Your margin for error, that's the biggest thing. Can you win when your margin for error is going to be as remote as it's going to be when you're playing a great team in their building? Can you achieve that level of execution on both ends?"
Yep, that sounds about right.
