The 13-1 Indiana Pacers hit the road on Wednesday night to play another potential playoff team from the Eastern Conference when they face the Charlotte Bobcats.
Well, yeah, the way the East is going there are about 12 "potential" playoff teams. But...were the playoffs to begin tonight, the 7-8 record for Charlotte would have them slotted as a No.5 seed and a possible second-round playoff opponent for the Pacers.
Oy, the East.
Despite the sub-.500 record, the Bobcats can cause problems with a balanced attack led by guard Kemba Walker and a couple of familiar front court faces in Josh McRoberts and Cody Zeller pitching in. Still, with wins over the Knicks, Celtics, Raptors, Cavaliers (twice), Nets and Bucks, the Bobcats are looking for a signature W and no doubt looking forward to taking a swing at the Pacers.
This is where the Pacers stand now, as a top team in the East drawing the full attention of opponents for every game. That's a good thing, even if the East isn't so good.
