The Pacers annual FanJam event is a great opportunity for the organization to put on a free event that allows fans to react and interact with players through a series of fun events that may or may not have anything to do with basketball followed by a mega autograph sessions for a little personal touch from each of the players.
The event has normally drawn 3,000-5,000 fans in past years, but yesterday the Pacers reported 8,000 showed up and it seemed like even more based on the Fieldhouse set up. A family fun area in the north end of the floor level was a genius idea to keep kids (and let's face it, adults) having fun with assorted monster bounce-house games before the players took the floor for their games. Fans were also allowed to shoot free throws on the court.
But once the team took the floor, the fun really took off, as Scott Agness breaks down quite well with a recap of the events. A couple of Instagram videos also give a nice flavor of how much fun was available at the event. It appears as if the players may have at least as much fun as the fans. Check out the photo galleries as well where you can see Lance Stephenson getting after it in a sumo outfit. Classic.
C.J. Watson shared some "Junk in the Trunk" and rookie show footage. Joining Solomon Hill in the risque rookie show is new assistant video coordinator Mike DiBenedetto who is now the most beloved assistant video coordinator in the league. Nice work.
Frank Vogel crushing it on the monster trike, also an entertaining clip.
