Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel heads into the playoffs with a nice honor, picking up Coach of the Month honors for April in the Eastern Conference. Memphis coach Lionel Hollins was given the nod in the Western Conference. From the Pacers.com news release:
Vogel led Indiana to an Eastern Conference- best 12-3 (.800) record including a league-leading 5-0 mark on the road, the Pacers longest winning streak away from home since 2003-04. The Pacers' 12 victories were the team's most wins in a month since November 2003 (13-2). During April, the Pacers averaged 102.7 points - nearly six points above its season average -- and ranked sixth overall in Plus-Minus Score Differential (+5.7).
Mike Wells has Vogel's reaction to the news from practice today.
"I have no words, it's very, very humbling," Vogel said after practice today. "It's a credit to the guys. They've been extremely dialed in. And quite frankly, a credit for bringing (Leandro) Barbosa in. That changed our team and helped us go on a run toward the end of the season."
