Indiana Pacers rookies Miles Plumlee and Orlando Johnson are set to re-join the team for their road trip this week after taking a trip of their own up I-69 for the weekend to play in two D-League games for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
The Mad Ants lost both games starting on Friday with a 109-100 loss to the Erie Bayhawks and then on Sunday a 117-112 loss to the Maine Red Claws.
On Friday both Pacers struggled to find their offensive rhythm with Johnson ending the game with 15 points and six rebounds on 5 of 16 shots from the field. Plumlee made just 2 of 9 field goal attempts and finished with five points and 12 rebounds. Johnson and Plumlee also had three turnovers apiece.
Both players fared much better in their second game on Sunday, a tough loss to the Red Claws. Johnson scored a game-high 30 points, making half of his 20 shots while also adding nine rebounds and four steals for the Mad Ants. Plumlee had a much better outing, as well, making 10 of 17 shots to finish the game with 23 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Plumlee also turned the ball over five times while Johnson limited his turnovers to one.
The Red Claws had Boston rookie Fab Melo in action. The C's first round pick had 14 points and 4 rebounds. Former Butler star, Shelvin Mack helped lead Maine to the W with 22 points six assists and six rebounds.
If you are struggling to fall asleep tonight, you can actually watch a full replay of each game in the box score links above. Actually a pretty sweet option the D-League delivers.
