Pacers Preseason: Ben Hansbrough to open season with Pacers; George Hill plays in Fan Jam scrimmage

New, comments

Mike Wells reports that the Pacers will begin the season with a full 15-man roster, while George Hill took part in the team's scrimmage on Sunday.

The Indiana Pacers plan to keep reserve guard Ben Hansbrough on the regular season roster when the season starts on Wednesday, according to reports.

Hansbrough played his way past Sundiata Gaines and Blake Ahearn during training camp leaving him among the top 15 players on the roster. Keeping an open roster spot allows the team's front office some flexibility, but since Hansbrough's contract is no guaranteed, the team could still release him to make room for another move, if needed. If B-Hans (hmm, nickname?) sticks until Jan.10th, 2013 then the his contract will be guaranteed for the remainder of the season.

It has to be a little strange for Ben and Tyler to be playing alongside each other in NBA situations. After so many years, playing in backyards, driveways and random gyms, now they are doing the same thing in NBA arenas. They must have a few, "whoa, this is cool" moments, that I'm sure go unsaid.

Mike Wells also reports on George Hill taking part in the 12 minute scrimmage at the Fan Jam. Hill didn't play in any preseason games but it appears he will at least give it a go for the start of the regular season.

I had a few emails from excited fans that thought Hill looked good on the court and appeared ready to go. That's great news to hear, but it was only a 12 minute scrimmage and I'm sure the training staff will be interested to see how Hill feels tomorrow after play. But, still, any minutes G3 can give to start the season will be a bonus.

Here are a few dunks from the Fan Jam:
