The NBA owners and players will continue negotiations for a second day in a row today after the near silence on the state of talks by both sides yesterday ginned up some real optimism that a deal may be reached in time to save the 2010-11 season.
The fact the both sides emerged from the meeting calmly giving nothing to reporters other than saying they would continue to meet today was one positive sign. But then a slip of the tweet by players' VP Roger Mason Jr. (broken down nicely by Andrew Sharp) stating, "Looking like a season. How u?" ramped up that optimism.
It would only be fitting for the labor negotiations to run through Twitter since the NBA is the most Twitter-friendly league going. Mason quickly played the "hacked" card which would be plausible if not for that fact that everyone has sent out a tweet intended as a direct message or text message. In fact, I did it twice just this past weekend. Sorry Rog, I'll take that as a great sign.
After the jump, plenty of great links on the state of the negotiations along with news of the Indiana Fever clinching the top seed for the WNBA's Eastern Conference playoffs with their win last night over the Washington Mystics.
