The Indiana Pacers try to get right on the road tonight when they visit the Detroit Pistons. It is simply impossible to speculate on what frame of mind the Pacers will be in when they take the court or how sharp they will play even though they have chance to control their destiny and make the playoffs. Last night's thumping was just further evidence that this crew marches to the beat of another dribble.

I was kind of hoping the Pacers would absorb some of the local excitement with how Butler has played and the community has responded. But, instead the Pacers seemed to take their inspiration from Wisconsin with all of the missed shots last night.

The Pistons have been a problem for the Pacers in the two games these teams split earlier in the year. They're still bickering, although this time Charlie Villanueva is the one drawing the ire of coach John Kuester. Rip Hamilton is back in the starting lineup which means Ben Gordon and Rodney Stuckey bring an offensive punch off the bench.

The Pistons lost to Cleveland last night and Tracy McGrady shocked everyone by coming up lame with back spasms so he will likely be a game-time decision tonight. If T-Mac can't go, I'd expect Stuckey to start instead.

Here is the preview.
