While the NBA owners and players continue meeting into the night trying to resolve the lockout issues, there was some NBA news today indirectly impacted the Indiana Pacers. Well, actually the lack of direct impact on the Pacers is the news worth noting.
The Toronto Raptors will reportedly add former Philadelphia 76ers GM, Ed Stefanski to the front office. Stefanski will team up with Bryan Colangelo and serve as Toronto's new executive vice-president of basketball operations. The hiring of Stefanski ends the Raptors' multi-month search for the key front office position that included the Pacers new director of player personnel, Kevin Pritchard as a serious candidate.
Stefanski has been long linked to the Raptors job. He, San Antonio Spurs executive Dennis Lindsay, New Orleans general manager Jeff Bower and Kevin Pritchard, a former Portland executive and current front office employee of the Indiana Pacers, were the four most reported names in Colangelo's search.
While we hold out hope that the lockout will end soon, it is nice to know the Pacers front office will be firing on all cylinders as expected during the vital and brief "offseason" frenzy that will ensue whenever the lockout ends.
