The Indiana Pacers will try to win their third-straight game tonight when they host the Chicago Bulls at Conseco Fieldhouse. A win tonight would mark the Pacers' first three-game winning streak of the season after failing to accomplish that feat three times earlier in the season.
But forget winning streaks, beating this Bulls team at any point in the season would be an accomplishment and tonight may be Indiana's best chance to do it. Consider the Bulls have been a matchup nightmare for the Pacers along the lines of the Atlanta Hawks. With an active front court Joakim Noah, Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng the Pacers are stuck between a rock and a hard place against Chicago when you throw in supernova point guard, Derrick Rose.
Noah is on the shelf with a thumb injury, though so while the game remains a beast, swapping Kurt Thomas for Joakim Noah should help the Pacers' matchup problems. In their last meeting, The Pacers could only muster up 73 points after shooting 35% from the floor in the heart of the team's December NOT to remember. The Pacers' offense has a normal pulse after scoring over 100 points in the past two games, so it should be interesting to see what they can get done offensively tonight.
The schedule almost set up perfectly for the Pacers, as the ultimate trap game with Chicago awaiting their first game against the Miami Heat tomorrow night back home. Unfortunately, the Charlotte Bobcats had to mess things up by showing up on Wednesday and knocking off the Bulls which should keep Chicago focused on the task at hand tonight.
