Wow, what a roller coaster of a game! This game is just a great example of how this season has gone so far. The Pacers had strings of greatness with the TJ Ford, Solomon Jones and the reserves who fought back from a large first quarter deficit, and then there were periods of...well, let's just say poor basketball...
Danny Granger was sorely missed. He would have been very useful in the numerous long droughts, especially when the Pacers decided 15 points would be enough in the 4th quarter. The Pacers continue to show fight, even through rough games such as last night. However, their consistency throughout an entire game hasn't been there lately. Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom come to town on Wednesday, so they will need to re-locate their consistency and bring it back out for a season sweep of the defending champions.
After the jump check out JOB's comments on Hibbert's play so far this season, the importance of learning from these nights and the links of the day...
Mike Wells reported, before the game, of Jim OBrien's belief that Roy Hibbert isn't yet having that great of year. This came up in reference to the possibility of Most Improved Player award going to big Roy. Hibbert decided to make his coach look good last night while having a very rough outing. At one point, I yelled out in anger, "Solo!", when it was actually Hibbert, who got picked early in the 4th quarter while looking another direction. Solo had a pretty solid game, but he is more keen to lose the ball with a turnover in that situation. Hibbert looked sluggish and would love to see that attack mode again from the big man.
Big Roy and the rest of the Pacers are trying to learn how to bring the same intensity every night. They are very young but hopefully are learning from these ups and downs. Is this a group willing to put itself through rough stretches and learn from their mistakes? Or, will they put their heads down and become stubborn? Let me know what you guys think...
