The Indiana Pacers hit the road tonight to take on the New Jersey Nets. The Pacers hope to build off of their two wild wins at home earlier in the week and grab an elusive road W. This will be the first of back-to-back games with a short turnaround tomorrow since the tip for Saturday's game against New Orleans was moved up to 6:00PM.
The Pacers have already beaten the struggling Nets twice earlier this season. The return of Devin Harris to run alongside a very young lineup hasn't help the Nets find many more wins since they remain stuck at 3-35 for the year and in the midst of a six-game losing streak. Second-year center Brook Lopez has enjoyed big games against the Pacers in the previous two games so I think it's safe to say the Nets will try to establish the big fella in the post once again. Hopefully, Roy Hibbert can get his fair share as well to minimize the impact.
As long as Hibbert is on Lopez, the Pacers should still be able to take advantage of a small lineup. Yes, Yi Jianlian is a 7-footer but he's more comfortable on the perimeter and forcing him to guard small on the defensive end should be an advantage. Of course, he might be a good matchup for Murphy as well, so JOB has plenty of options tonight.
Finally, there's an outside chance Shawne Williams will make an appearance if he is on the active roster tonight after his recent trade from Dallas. If so, considering he hasn't played in so long, I guess that will be a good thing for the Pacers. UPDATE: Nevermind. More SMH actions from Williams which should end his association with the NBA for good. The Nets waived Williams today just before he was indicted on eight drug charges back in Memphis.
Bruno's Scouting Report has the Pacers looking for some success on the road. The Pacers have won their last four home games but are 0-3 on the road during that same stretch.
