Fresh Start For The Offseason

Since the Pacers missed the playoffs again this year, I figured I'd do my part to start anew this offseason and freshen up the site with a new logo. The SB Nation tech team has done incredible things this year to improve this site and the network as whole. Special thanks to Ryan Gantz for squeezing in a logo upgrade between rolling out new sites.

I'm often asked about the Cornrows name so I figure this is a good time to share the history for new readers despite how lame to origins may be.

Many years ago, I participated in a fantasy league while living in D.C. which saw its owners disperse to various cities around the U.S. The following year we developed names with a little flavor from our new location. My new home in Indiana had several corn fields surrounding the neighborhood and with Latrell Sprewell and Allen Iverson on my roster the Cornrows name served a perfect double-meaning.

The name stuck and in bringing it to the blog I think it reflects Indiana basketball at its core. The new logo maintains the urban and rural juxtaposition that captures the diversity of a state that generates elite basketball talent from all corners and many points in between. If there's one thing that binds all people in Indiana, it's basketball.
