The Phoenix Suns arrive at the Fieldhouse with their imposing roster looking to prove they still belong in the conversation about elite teams in the Western Conference. Coach Terry Porter doesn't expect to slow the Suns down much but with Steve Nash and Shaq tacking another year on their bones the pace figures to be slower than Mike D'Antoni's preferred style. Of course, the Pacers don't mind running so this game should have the Suns in a familiar game with a 110-point minimum for securing a W.
Or will it?
Bruno's Scouting Report highlights how both teams are trying to emphasize defense to compliment their offensive prowess. I appreciate the defensive effort, but the Pacers may be better off in this one with a shoot out. Rasho Nesterovic will not play which thins out the Pacers front court and their chances to slow down Amare Stoudemire and Shaq. Amare destroyed the Pacers last year so we know it will take a full team effort to slow him down.
The Pacers get a break with the Suns arriving in Indy after playing the Nets on Tuesday night. The Suns certainly had it going in their 114-86 win (they should thank the Nets for shutting it down early). Hopefully the Suns left some of that offense at the airport in Newark.
The Pacers have a couple of great ticket promotions going for the game tonight. First, the Danny Granger Missing Teeth 2-for-1 deal. Then there's the web voting promotion where you can win free tickets or freebies at the game by pulling the virtual voting lever. Everybody wins something.
Mike Wells offers a nod of appreciation to Shaq.
