Shawne to Start Season Sittin'

While Shawne Williams received some good news from the Marion County prosecutor, Larry Joe Legend delivered some swift punishment to help guide Shawne's future decision-making process.

The good news for Shawne is that all of his legal issues can be handled in traffic court since the possession of marijuana charge was dropped. But, for being in a position where one of his boys had to jump on the possession grenade to save him, LJL will sit Shawne for the first three games of the season. The punishment was doled out prior to the official charges being file today and according to LJL the punishment has nothing to do with guilt or innocence.

"We are making it clear to our players and our fans that this franchise is going in a different direction," said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird. "Shawne put himself in a position that placed the franchise in a poor light. He's a good kid who made a bad decision. Our franchise is in a position now where the responsibilities, conduct and standards of the players off the court weigh as heavily as they do on the court."
The Pacers are trying to change the culture and thanks to Shawne's late night joy ride, LJL was able to establish a new, strict precedent for behavior going forward.
