Open Game Thread: Pacers vs. Heat

New, comment

According to this Heat Notebook, Shaq may not play defense tonight. That seems awful sporting of Shaq and the Heat. Alonzo Mourning is also questionable. So, let's see. The Heat may be missing Mourning, will be missing D-Wade, and Shaq won't play defense. Jason Kapono, who almost single-handedly beat the Pacers in their last visit the the Fieldhouse (fortunately he missed the game winner), is also out. That should about even things up for the Pacers if they can get some <s>minutes</s> production out of the sore knee brigade of Jermaine O'Neal, Jamaal Tinsley, and Marquis Daniels. Definitely not counting on 'Quis though.

Bruno's preview is calling for an upgrade in performance from Danny Granger who has looked lost on offense for at least a month.

With O'Neal limited, the Pacers are searching for someone, anyone, to help fill the void. The most likely candidate would be forward Danny Granger but he, too, has fallen into a funk. After totaling 12 points in Texas, Granger has averaged just 12.8 points on 39.2 percent shooting in the last 14 games.
12.8 seems a little high to me, but I guess Granger has had a few solid scoring games mixed in.

Time to get ready for the tip.
