Open Game Thread #63: Pacers at Cavaliers

The Pacers have a rare Saturday afternoon game today at Cleveland. Maybe LeBron James will be a little mellow due to the early start. Also, the Cavs are missing Zydrunas Illgauskas, Boobie Gibson, and Sasha Pavlovic. Gibson and Pavlovic have killed the Pacers in the past so we'll take what we can get. Of course, the Pacers are without, Jamaal Tinsley, Jermaine O'Neal, Kareem Rush, and David Harrison.

Here's Bruno's Scouting Report which looks at Marquis Daniels and his role off the bench reverting back to backup shooting guard/small forward since the signing of Flip Murray. I agree that shedding the ball handling responsibilities should help Quisy play more of his game. I also, hope with Rush out and Shawne Williams in the dog house that Stephen Graham gets some more minutes in the rotation today. Free 23!

Here's what the efficiency numbers say:

Team Pace Off.Eff. Def.Eff.
IND 96.1(3rd) 106.8(18th) 109.0(18th)
CLE 89.4(21st) 107.6(17th) 108.4(15th)

Projected Starters
PACERS pos. PISTONS
Mike Dunleavy F LeBron James
Troy Murphy F Ben Wallace
Jeff Foster C Anderson Varejao
Danny Granger G Devin Brown
Travis Diener G Delonte West

Feel free to leave your thoughts on the game in the comments.

So the Pacer killer today is...
Varejao. 10 points in first 7 minutes? Instead of getting killed from distance their getting beat inside.

Some early burn for Ike Diogu
Offensive rebound and put back on first possession. Keep it up, Ike!

Ugly 1Q: Cle 34 - Ind 17
The stagnant offense was bad, but the defense was worse.

LeBron with a crazy finish to half
Sweet reverse dunk after two offensive rebounds and a jump ball kept the ball in the Cavs end for most of the final minute.
Cavs up 51-37

Cavs gave plenty of opportunities
for Pacers to comeback, but the Pacers didn't seem too interested in taking advantage. Sorry execution.

Pacers and Cavs both shooting poorly
around 38%. Cavs have 11 offensive rebounds, though and an overall 31-18 rebound advantage.

LeBron v. Danny
Tradin' 3-point haymakers, as they alternate making 4 3-balls in a row. The offenses are awake. Cleveland up 66-45.

Slick: not a fan of Ben Wallace
Says the best play Wallace ever made was the Mickey Mouse 6 game suspension he got for starting the brawl in Detroit.

Flip and Quisy show
Somehow the Pacers are only down 13.

LeBron: Dagger?
lead was down to four, then LeBron hits a sweet step-back 3-ball. Quisy answers with two and Cavs lead 100-95 with 57 seconds left.

LeBron appears in pain
some kind of hammy problem, but he's ready to go.
