Pacers Stand by Players...for Now

The Pacers are standing by Tinsley and Daniels for now. Updated story with Pacers' statement here.

"Jamaal Tinsley and Marquis Daniels have steadfastly insisted they are innocent and did not engage in any unlawful or improper behavior on the night in question. A grand jury has only decided a trial is needed to determine the facts. In our system of justice a Grand Jury does not find anyone guilty of anything. This process is very different than a trial in which the proceedings are under the supervision of a judge who instructs the jury.

The indictment is not evidence of anything. We hope that going forward the media coverage will be fair and unbiased and that the public will not rush to judgment. We need to give the process time to treat everyone fairly and reach a just result. The Pacers hope the media and the public will join us in efforting the presumption of innocence to Jamaal and Marquis."

Federal Phone Tapping
revealed the following conversation the day before this was released:

"Portland Trailblazers' office.  How may I help you?"

"Yeah...this is John from the Pacers' office.  Do you guys happen to have any of those press release forms you used when Zach or Rasheed or Bonzi or Qyntel or Ruben or J.R. or Shawn Kemp got in trouble?"

"Yes, sir.  I'm staring at three boxes of them right now.  They're propping up our break room table."

"Could you by any chance send me one of those forms?  Actually could you fax it, like, today?"

"Of course.  Do you want me to fill it in for you or do you just want the blank template?"

"The template please.  Do we have permission to photocopy?"

NBA synergy
I hope there's room on that template for multiple names.

Tonight's probable outcome
Indiana is a rather large -8.5 over Milwaukee. While the Pacers might well win the game late, outright, expect the Bucks to at least get the cover.

When will the nonsense end for this once proud franchise?

(hopefully, JT and MD are eventually proven innocent ... IMO, everyone involved with the Pacers' organization could really use a break from this sort of upset & instability)

So far, so good
Tins must think his effort on the court will help with his pleas of innocence IN court.
