Game Thread #68: Indiana Pacers at Cleveland Cavaliers

Brandon Rush  SG Anthony Johnson
Dahntay Jones SF LeBron James
Troy Murphy PF Antawn Jamison
Roy Hibbert C J.J. Hickson

The Indiana Pacers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in Quicken Loans Arena tonight. Danny Granger is expected to miss the game after a shot to the head near the end of last night's game sent him to the hospital.

Without Granger to counter LeBron James at the offensive end, I'm guessing Jim O'Brien starts Dahntay Jones to at least provide a little defense. Mike Dunleavy is coming off one of his better games, but combining Dunleavy and Murphy to start would really maximize the matchup problems. Of course, there's trouble lurking regardless of who JOB trots out there.

Game Thread #67: Charlotte Bobcats at Indiana Pacers

Break up the Bobcats.

Larry Brownhas Charlotte humming along at the right time of the year as the Bobcats arrive at the Fieldhouse tonight looking to win their seventh straight game. A couple of trade deadline tweaks have worked out well, with Theo Ratliff and one of my personal favorites, Stephen Graham, landing in the starting lineup.

The Indiana Pacerson the other hand have won just one of their past seven games and at this point are just hoping to get through warmups without an injury. Mike Dunleavyis expected to be back tonight after missing a game due to a warmup mishap. T.J. Ford remains out with a groin strain which should open up minutes again for A.J. Price at point guard off the bench. Ford played a big role in the Pacers win over Charlotte back in December, but that seems like a year or two ago at this point as both teams have gone their separate ways since that game.

Talk about messin' with the biorhythms. The Indiana Pacers have a rare day game today at the Milwaukee  Bucks. Not only does the game start at 1:00PM but it tips after everyone lost an hour of sleep thanks to springing their clocks forward for Daylight Savings Time. Throw in the fact that there's no TV and you could consider this the lost he schedule. Fortunately, Mark Boyle and Slick Leonard will be providing the high def visuals with their radio call.

Last we heard, T.J. Ford was doubtful to play today meaning Earl Watson would likely take his spot in the starting lineup. JOB has preferred to go small against the Bucks in the past to avoid leaving Roy Hibbert on Andrew Bogut. If he sticks with that plan I assume Dahntay Jones will get the start, but I'm hopeful Hibbert gets the start and logs the much needed experience of dealing with a center like Bogut who is playing quite well.

The Indiana Pacers should be fresh and ready to go tonight when the take on the Boston Celtics at TD Garden.

Danny Granger returns after serving a one game suspension which gave him five full off-days heading into the game tonight. The Pacers catch a surly Celtics team that's been stumbling a bit lately. The C's have lost two straight and are 5-5 in their last ten games, so it's safe to say they won't be overlooking the Pacers tonight.

The Indiana Pacers take on the Philadelphia 76ers tonight at the Fieldhouse without leading scorer Danny Granger. Been a few games since the Pacers changed their starting lineup so I guess they were due for a change tonight regardless of whether or not it was league mandated.

So how will the lineup be altered? For now, I'll guess Mike Dunleavy takes Granger's spot. Dahntay Jones would help defensively but his minutes have been real sporadic lately. Plus, the Sixers have had success with a smaller lineup, so maybe JOB matches them and lets Murph start at center. Of course, if Philly is small, why not keep Hibbert in there and try to pound it in the post to the big fella?

The Indiana Pacers wrap up their final West Coast road game tonight when they face the Phoenix Suns.

This will be the  fourth game in five days for the Pacers. It only feels like five weeks, since all three losses included double-digit deficits throughout much of the second half. Steve Nash is hurting for the Suns but he'll need to play tonight since backup PG Goran Dragic is out with an ankle sprain.

Back in mid-January the Pacers put together one of their best halves of the season, working their way back from a huge deficit to beat the Suns at the Fieldhouse, 122-114. Danny Granger and Mike Dunleavy combined for 63 points. Considering the way Dunleavy has struggled of late, that doesn't seem possible, nor simply seven weeks ago. Like last night in Denver, 120 points is a good benchmark for the Pacers tonight if they want a chance to win this one.

Thank you sir, may I have another.

The Indiana Pacers take on another Western Conference title contender tonight when they take on the Denver Nuggets.

In the third game of the season, the Nuggets ran out to a big early lead and cruised home for a 111-93 win at the Fieldhouse. While that seems like two years ago from a Pacers' perspective, the Nuggets are a different team as well. After weathering various stretches with key injuries, Denver has emerged heading into the home stretch of the season as a legit contender in the West.

The Nuggets remain a team playing through adversity though as head coach George Karl has been courageously coaching as much as he can while enduring treatment for throat cancer. Speaking of which, don't forget Hoops for St. Jude Week.

Game Thread #61: Indiana Pacers at Portland Trail Blazers

The Indiana Pacers have to pick themselves up off the canvas to take on the Portland Trail Blazers tonight.

After last night's second half TKO, the issues surrounding the Pacers have become more entertaining than the actual play of the Pacers. Consider the case of T.J. Ford after his play last night  brought strong criticism from Slick Leonard and Mark Boyle, two respected icons of the franchise. Now if it's me and my actions bring about such a pointed response from Slick, I'm finding my way to a mirror to have a good introspective look at what's going on. Not T.J., he went to Twitter instead and lobbed some not so cryptic tweets. That helps.

After the crazy game in L.A. last night, the Pacers have to find a way to come together or they'll leave Portland resembling Mt. St. Helens. Actually, that might no be all bad.

For a Portland perspective, check out Blazers Edge. The Blazers signed Travis Diener today so I assume he'll be chirping away at his old teammates from the other bench tonight.

The Indiana Pacers tip off a daunting West Coast roadie tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers' front court length, not to mention talent, should lure Jim O'Brien out of his preferred small ball lineup tonight.  As Bruno's mentions in his Scouting Report, the small lineup was exposed early and often in the last meeting with the Lakers. Of course, any approach the Pacers take tonight presents a daunting task.

The Indiana Pacers take on a very familiar foe tonight when the Chicago Bullsvisit Conseco Fieldhouse. This will be the third game between the teams in the past two plus weeks and the second meeting this week.

The Bulls won the first two so life will be difficult as usual for the Pacers tonight. However, they did have a couple of factors fall in their favor last night. First, the Bulls had to go into overtime to beat the Portland Trail Blazerslast night with a couple of players who give the Pacers fits logging heavy minutes. Derrick Rose scored 33 points but played over 46 minutes, while Luol Deng played just shy of 45 minutes. The Bulls appear to be at full strength though since Joakim Noahplayed 27 minutes while continuing to deal with a plantar fasciists issue.

For a little emotional boost, several Pacers were at the Fieldhouse last night to watch the Winning Time premier which had to be an inspiring evening.
