Pacers Playoffs Links: Happy Game 7 Day!

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Pacers and Hawks play for keeps on Saturday evening at the Fieldhouse. The Pacers have delivered plenty of drama to the playoffs which accounts for the Game 6 television ratings breaking records both nationally and locally.

Frank Vogel has said that the team losing the last game in the playoffs has an advantage which is the way this series has played out. Hopefully, that trend comes to an end at the Fieldhouse on Saturday when the Pacers must win their second consecutive game to advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Pacers have certainly been a bit of a soap opera of late with the way they ended the season along with their up and down play against the Hawks. Apparently that drama has captured the TV viewers' attention because the ratings for Game 6 came in at a record clip.

NBA TV reported that Game 6 was their highest rated game ever. Yep, Pacers/Hawks playing well to the national audience.

The local audience also set records for the FOX Sports Indiana broadcast. According to FSI:

Thursday's game earned a 10.4 household rating in Indianapolis, according to Nielsen Media Research. That tops the previous high of 10.1 set May 17, 1999, for Game 1 of a second-round playoff series vs. Philadelphia.

Pacers-Hawks was the top-rated program Thursday in prime time in Indianapolis. It peaked at a 14.6 rating/24 share/160,000 households in the game's final minutes.

Three of the top six FSI broadcast all time have been the road games at Atlanta in this series. Game 7 will be on TNT tonight as the first of three Game 7's played tonight. What an epic night of basketball for the NBA. Let's just hope we are still celebrating by the end of the night.
