After a solid first quarter where the Indiana Pacers looked their most energetic and held a 21-20 first quarter advantage, things snowballed in the wrong direction as soon as Mike Scott threw up a couple of three pointers. Scott led the Hawks with 17 second quarter points on his own, including 5-5 from three point range in a quarter the Hawks shot 9-11 from three point arc, jumping out 37-11 in the quarter to blow out the Pacers, leading by as many as 25.
Atlanta's bench outscored Indiana's bench 34-2 in the first half, with Scott's 17 and Shelvin Mack's 13. George Hill led the Pacers with 12 and Paul George scored 10. The Pacers face a monumental test in the second half to avoid falling into an elimination game.
