Why the Pacers are sucking. (Larry tinkering)

Right now the Pacers are looking at exiting the playoffs in the 2nd round if we get lucky and squeak by the Hawks. We are just not a good team right now and I don't see any reason that our season will turn around now that the playoffs have started. This is the harsh reality. The real question is why? How did we go from the top team in the league and the #1 seed in the east to facing the embarrassing reality of a first round defeat to the only sub .500 team in the playoffs?

The answer...Chemistry. Specifically, poor chemistry as a result of over-tinkering by Larry Legend who is always "willing to listen to deals that get us better". As a result, Larry has made too many deals, which has not maintained continuity. Without that continuity there is not trust and without trust there is not a solid team.

The midseason trade of former face of the franchise Danny Granger was just the tip of the iceberg. Evan Turner is a better player than Granger at this point in his career, but Danny was a locker room presence. More importantly, that Danny was dealt at that time showed the players that team leadership did not believe in the team they had.

Other trades and failures to resign have contributed to eroding the Pacers' foundation. The Pacers should have had Miles Plumlee, who broke out for the Suns this year; Tyler Hansbrough, who has been an unheralded spark for the Raptors as they have surged; and DJ Augustin, who has been playing great for the Bulls. Instead those players that were getting better and becoming part of the Pacers team were let go to bring in more "talent". The Pacers have not kept their own and maintained continuity to build the team.

This philosophy is what separates the Pacers from consistently successful teams like the Spurs.

If the Pacers want to get better in the future (next year) I advise Larry legend to stop tinkering so much and allow the players to develop and naturally get better together, build trust and cohesion and keep our own players!
