NBA Playoffs final score: Hawks obliterate Pacers 101-93

Andy Lyons

The Pacers embarrassed themselves on their home floor in a Game 1 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Paul George had 24 and Lance Stephenson had 19. Jeff Teague led Atlanta with 28 points, the Hawks hitting 11 three pointers.

A somewhat ominous 16-2 Atlanta Hawks run early in the first quarter made things difficult for the Indiana Pacers as they fell behind nine points in the first quarter. Lance Stephenson and Paul George helped push Indiana into the lead, but a 7-1 Hawks run to close the half tied up the score at the break. In the third quarter, Atlanta opened up an 8-0 run to go up by eight, with the Pacers closing the gap to within two. From that point, the Hawks turned it on yet again with a long run, 14-0 as part of a 30-16 quarter.

The Hawks poured it on in the fourth quarter, pushing the lead to 18 en route to a Game 1 upset as the Pacers home court disappears in one game. The Pacers had no answer for Jeff Teague or Atlanta's shooters. Teague had 28 and the hawks were 11-30 from three point range. Solid second quarters from Stephenson and George were pretty much Indiana's highlights, with George scoring 24 and Stephenson putting in 19. George Hill reached double figures with 12.
