The Indiana Pacers left San Antonio in early December as the best team in the NBA after beating the Spurs in impressive fashion.

The Pacers fell behind early in that game but went on to put together their two best quarters of the season in the second and third and just wore out the Spurs and eventually put 'em away with relative ease. Of course, part of the great effort in that game included making some shots.

The Pacers made over half their shots (53.5%) and even scored more than 100 points (110) for the game. These are foreign numbers of late and now the Spurs arrive in Indy as the top team in the NBA. As the Pacers hunt for answers to how they can make a play or two at the offensive end, the Spurs are riding a 17-game winning streak and are about the last team the Pacers need to see at the Fieldhouse.

The win in San Antonio validated the incredible start to the season the Pacers enjoyed. I recall thinking after that game, OK, this team can play at championship level and get it done on the road. Now they just have to get to the playoffs in one piece.

Well, there aren't any major injuries, but the Pacers are hardly in one piece as their collective emotions seem to be scattered in a thousand pieces on the floor. The Spurs remain who the Pacers strive to be, so win or lose, maybe the threat of being embarrassed on their home court will bring those pieces back together.
