Pacers return from break ready to roll against Hawks

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Pacers jumped on the Hawks early and maintained enough energy on the court to seal up the win early and remain ready for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.

The Pacers returned from the All-Star break refreshed and ready to go which helped earn a W over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night. The execution wasn't always on point but the energy and effort carried the Pacers where they needed to go.

Paul George set the tone early, showing no ill effects from his active weekend in New Orleans and the rest followed suit. It was also nice to see the Pacers turning opponent's turnovers into touchdowns instead of the other way around.

The 35-7 advantage the Pacers held in points off of turnovers was highlighted by the effort in the third quarter when the Pacers were able to expand their lead despite the Hawks shooting almost 65%, thanks to cashing in eight Atlanta donations for 15 points.

That effort set the stage for the reserve unit to close up shop in the fourth quarter and keep the starters resting instead of returning for the final stretch of the game. That rest should come in handy tonight when the Pacers face the Timberwolves in Minnesota on the dreaded second night of a back-to-back on the road.
