Pacers Links: Pacers host Mavericks before NBA All-Star break

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Pacers look to head into the All-Star break on a positive note with a win over the Dallas Mavericks at the Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.

The Pacers can lock up a .500 record FOR THE SEASON with a home win on Wednesday night over the Dallas Mavericks. Of course, a .500 record would  be a disaster for the Pacers, but with 30 games to go after tonight, reaching the 41-win mark at the All-Star break would be an impressive feat.

The Mavs are always a threat to cause problems and earn wins with their collection of veteran talent around the ulitmate stretch four in Dirk Nowitzki. Former Pacers coach Rick Carlisle is the perfect coach for the veteran crew which may not have the fire power to make a run at a championship but remains in the playoff picture in the West with a 31-22 record.

That record has the Mavs currently slated at the eight seed in the West, but of course, that would be good for a solid three seed in the East. The Pacers will have to play well to finish in the fashion they want to heading into the break.
