Solomon Hill back with Pacers after disappointing D-League experience

Pacers rookie is back in Indy after playing two games with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Hill wasn't happy with the way things played out in Friday's game.

Solomon Hill is back in Indy after spending the week in Fort Wayne to play in a pair of D-League games for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. As Scott Agness reports, Hill wasn't happy with how things played out in Fort Wayne after playing just 25 minutes in the Mad Ants' 130-116 shoot-out win over the Iowa Energy on Friday.

Hill score 15 points in the win but after scoring 13 points in the first quarter didn't end up playing in the fourth quarter. All of the sitting didn't sit well with the rook who expected a chance to work on his game in the D-Leauge.

"The D-League is for developing talent and I didn't get a chance to play," Hill said. "I sat the whole fourth quarter. It's like, is it really a developmental league? I'm very grateful for the opportunity to play with the Mad Ants organization, but in order for me to try to develop, I have to be on the floor. That just makes me think about my next trip, if I want to go back down there. I'm kind of not tempted to go back down there now just because if I go down there and play 25 minutes after a two-hour drive, it's like, am I really developing?

"I can really practice here and get better than playing 25 minutes in the Developmental League. It was good. It was good to see shots going in. It was good to compete still at a high level and I felt all in all, I [got] something from it."

Hill was not expected to play any more games with Fort Wayne during this assignment, so he's not bailing on the Mad Ants. The D-League Showcase in Reno, NV begins this week, so Hill was returning to Indy regardless of how things played out on Friday.

Fort Wayne is an affiliate team for a few different NBA teams so the Pacers aren't necessarily able to dictate the terms of any player's assignment, but you would hope both sides could work together to make the situation work better. Whether he likes it or not, barring injury (knock on nearest wood) Hill will likely spend another home stand in Fort Wayne before the season ends.

Just sounds like it won't be Hill's choice the next time around.
