I love days like this in Indy!
No shortage of sports viewing and entertainment options with college hoops in full swing including No. 5 Michigan State visiting Bloomington to take on Indiana at 2 p.m. ET. Then at 4:35 p.m. ET the AFC playoffs kick off with the Colts hosting the Chiefs. Can Andrew Luck give the Colts a franchise-quarterback worthy performance at LOS? The time is now, young fella.
Of course, the Pacers close out the day's activities on the other side of downtown when they host the New Orleans Pelicans. Eric Gordon will make his only trip home this season trying to help the young, talented Pelicans grab a road upset. The 'Cans played on Friday, digging out a win on the road in Boston, but appear to have lost a player capable of stretching the Pacers defense.
Sharp-shooting power forward Ryan Anderson stayed behind in Boston last night after taking a scary fall which required a stretcher to immobilize his neck. Anderson flashed the thumbs up sign on the way off the court but stayed at a Boston hospital for further monitoring of what was described as a "cervical stinger." Ouch.
Anderson spent a recent stretch of the season in the starting lineup for New Orleans, as Monty Williams went small with the stretch four, sliding Anthony Davis to center. Last night, Williams went big, moving Anderson to the bench and starting 7'2 Alexis Ajinca at center. So the potential contrast in styles with the Pacers won't be happening, instead we'll see big on big.
Hopefully, we'll also see a lot of W's from the local teams in Central Indiana today.
