The Indiana Pacers will once again play in the Orlando Summer League and on Monday they announced the rosterof players that will begin practicing at the Fieldhouse on Wednesday before heading down to play games in Orlando on Sunday.
Miles Plumlee, Orlando Johnson and Ben Hansbrough from the regular season roster will be with the Summer Pacers along with draft pick Solomon Hill. B-Hans may be a surprise since the Pacer didn't make him a qualifying offer, although minimum salary players don't really require such machinations. That doesn't mean his spot near the end of the roster is safe, but at least he'll be able to compete directly with other reserve point guard candidates.
Other point guards on the roster looking for job are Jonny Flynn and Donald Sloane. There has been chatter that the Pacers were interested in Sloane as a third point guard option. Flynn was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2009 draft but has bounced around the league ever since.
For a little local flavor, Julian Mavunga from Brownsburg will once again play for the Summer Pacers after playing last season in Italy. Also, former Indiana Hoosier, Christian Watford will get an opportunity with the blue and gold. Watford is also slated to play for the Dallas Mavericks in the Las Vegas Summer League.
As usual, plenty of intriguing players to follow and overreact to from Orlando next week.
