Right after the executives returned from attending EuroCamp in Treviso yesterday, Indiana announced their first group workout before the draft. It will feature the following prospects: DeShaun Thomas (SF, Ohio State), C.J. Leslie (SF/PF, North Carolina State), James Southerland (SF, Syracuse), Alex Oriakhi (PF/C, Missouri), Will Clyburn (SG, Iowa State), and Troy Daniels (SG, VCU).
The crew of Kevin Pritchard, Donnie Walsh, Peter Dinwiddie, Ryan Carr, and Frank Vogel brought in a good crop of prospects for this workout tomorrow. They will be conducting individual testing and the usual three-on-three scrimmage to end it.
Out of the six prospects, three have a chance of being selected by the Pacers at 23. They are Southerland, Thomas, and Leslie. All three would provide Indiana with a much needed scoring punch off the bench, even the possibility of adding a key stretch-4 as well to this roster. Outside of those three, the others are expected to be taken in the late second round, or go undrafted.
Whoever wins the battle between Southerland, Thomas, and Leslie could be well on their way to being in top consideration to be selected by Indiana at 23. Indiana rarely seems to take someone they do not workout, if you look at their recent draft history.
Also, an article I will be releasing soon about Pacers lead scout, Ryan Carr's adventures through Twitter has shown that he has been to a ton of Southerland and Leslie's games this season. That means they could be pretty high up Indiana's draft board already before the workout even begins tomorrow.
Below are some highlight videos of all six prospects for tomorrow's workout, if you are unaware of them.
