The Indiana Pacers host the Chicago Bulls on Sunday evening in the third meeting between the two rivals this season.
The Pacers won the first two games which is part of the reason the they reside atop the Central Division prior to the tip tonight. The Pacers ran past the Bulls to win in the weather makeup game in early February, but the Bulls were missing Joakim Noah for that contest and the Chicago big man figures to make his presence known this evening.
That last meeting was a rare offensive shootout between two teams that base their identity on the defensive side of the ball. David West was a monster in the last game, taking advantage of the thin front court for the Bulls by scoring 29 points. The Bulls remain thin up front off the bench with Taj Gibson sidelined. Yesterday, Chicago signed ol' friend Lou Amundson, but even is Lou plays, DWest should be plenty comfortable tangling with his old practice partner.
The Pacers need to show up better against a stout defensive presence than they did on Thursday against the Clippers. For starters, cutting down on the turnovers would help, an issue the Pacers continue to struggle with despite surviving the damage most nights.
But should the Pacers put it together and secure another valuable W, it will be the 100th win for Frank Vogel. Not bad.
